Economic Development
North Country Council was designated as an Economic Development District (EDD) in 1975 by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA). This federal designation comes with the responsibility of developing, maintaining, and helping the region implement the economic strategy for the district. The Comprehensive Development Strategy (CEDS) is a locally-based, regionally-driven plan that engages community leaders, private sector partners, and other stakeholders in the planning for our region’s future by setting a roadmap for economic development. A diverse and current CEDS affords entities within the region access to various opportunities depending on the current funding landscape.
Staff is involved through the CEDS in facilitating economic development and job creation throughout the region, offering coordination between public and private sector organizations. Federal EDA funding allows staff to offer a variety of services to communities.
